This guy recently moved in with us — he just came in through the cat flap and never left again.
Welcome to the family!
I have always had at least one cat (except for the time I was in the Navy and traveling overseas) pretty much all of my life. When I was a baby, we lived in California when my Dad was stationed in the Marines out there. It seems that the neighbors down the street had an Ocelot, a South American wildcat that they had in a cage in the backyard. One night, it got loose and got into our yard. My parents used to leave the sliding glass door open so the dog and cat could get in and out (didn’t worry about crime too much in those days), so the ocelot got into the house via the same way and made into the baby’s (my) room. My parents wake up to this horrendous, cat-fight sound from the other room, run in just as the ocelot is running out, and see that there are pin-pricks all around my body (so the ocelot was in the crib with me), scratches on the rubber and foam bumpers that ringed the top of the crib, and blood and fur all the way to the ceiling. In the middle of the floor sat our big Tomcat, Pete, who was nursing a slash on his paw and one on his face. The rest, apparently, came from the ocelot (I wasn’t touched at all). So, I not only love cats (have nothing against dogs, mind you…cats just fit my lifestyle a little better these days), one saved my life.
I can totally relate the cat chooses you instead of you choosing the cat. Our cat is now makes our house a home instantly, she just is so curious to everything that I just ignored or never noticed. We all love her presence and her greetings in the morning and when we come into the house in the evenings…She is a blessing and a God Send. More people should have cats.
Our neighbors cat came in our cat door one day and we laughed about it and put him out. The next day he was back. This continued day after day until finally we just let him stay. He was an outside kitty next door and I guess he knew we had a cat door and other cats so he just made himself at home! The neighbors would come to visit him but he never left us!
I love both stories!
Whatever happened to Nermel? Did he die?
A similar story happened with us many, many years ago. The neighbors made the kitten stay outside and didn’t even know she was female. They had named her “Prince.” She was very smart and figured out that three doors away was a house where cats were allowed inside. I kept making my daughters take her back home, but she would reappear at the door, crying to come in. After days of this, I gave up and assigned her a bowl next to the others. The neighbors never came for her. We called her “Twinkle.”
I’ve become a cat’s servant the exact same way. I’ve had them come in, plop down in my lap and decide that I was theirs.

feel very lucky he picked you to love. He is a hansom fellow.
I swear these types of cats do it all the time! I have a cat that looks identical to him and he just walked into my house and never left lol.
Cats adopt US…
When I was little, we had a cat who came knocking at our door. My father answered the door, didn’t see anyone and shut it again. A few minutes later, the knock came again. He opened the door and the cat walked right in like he owned the place. We called him Boots.
Cats can be that way; I’ve had more than one neighbor’s cat walk in and act as if they own the joint
He was allowed in the living room even though our dog wasn’t. He knew that. He would sit just far enough into the living room that Crispy couldn’t get to him without going into the room itself. Life with cats are always entertaining.
This is my Mindy (we call her Mouse). My sister picked her up in front of our local supermarket. When she told me about it, I came right over. It was love at first sight for both of us! I’ve had her for over 12 years now and she sleeps between my hubby and me. lol
Aww that’s such a great story! An a very cute kitty.
It always warms my heart to see a cat who has found a loving home.
It sure is Victoria.
We lost our Smokey last February, 2 days before the little snow we had! He was 13 yrs old and just disappeared. We have been looking everywhere! I was looking at your picture and it could be his twin.. If his tail was skinny..it would be our Smokey.. I guess this is Gods way of letting me know my Smokey is safe somewhere! We miss him terribly.. take good care of your new kitty.. they are so precious and lovable..
This looks like my Geddy except his nose isn’t as rusty and his “M” on the forehead is more distinctive…my Geddy sleeps like this, though..”his toes get all curly. It’s so cute!
That is how it was with my Molly, she was found on a military installation last summer. I seen her for many days hanging around outside, she was very thin but still affectionate towards humans. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore, my boyfriend and I scooped her up and she is now a part of our home…with 7 other cats. She is the biggest most gentle of them all. I’m glad that she chose us.
The cat in the picture looks like our Tigger.. We’ve had her since she was 3months old and now she’s going on 18…
I run a kids cardshop yu-gi-oh! magic ect…one day we found a gorgeous little fluffball living under my porch (long hair orange and white) he started following me to the back door everyday and yeah I started feeding him. He has become gorgeous! and is very good with all the kids..six years he’s been our mascot and our friend.
Wow it was magic!!!! What colour of cat is he or she?
he is bright orange long haired tiger style cat quite beautiful I will post a picture this weekend.
I took my little kitty cat in las October when it go kinda cold early, I felt bad afterwards cause I took her from her mommy and daddy they hung out by my house for about a week. I felt so bad I would constantly ask people what should I do, when I told a neighbor she ask me to describe the cat, so I did then she explain that she seen the kitten get hit by a car one morning when she was waiting for the bus. I did notice she had a gait to her walk and the end of her tail was missing. After taking her to the vet and have her all fixed up, I realized I did the right thing. She now is happy as ever and I am too.
Its good that you were asking people for advice about what to do… Obviously, she felt comfortable with you, just think of your cat being adopted by you…The parents were thanking you for taking care of her, and just wanted to be close to their kitten….Do you have a picture of your cat that you could post?
Had it happen when I was in HS. We had this beautiful black & white kitty show up. He stayed with us for over 3 years before he passed on. Boomer was awesome.
My Desdemona was a kitty that showed up one day and never left. Of course she had our then 7 year old feeding her when I wasn’t paying attention, lol. She’s now a happy beautiful 2 year old cat that loves us more than the world.
awwwwwwwwww you where adopted how sweet:)
Smart cat! “I hear there’s a vacancy..” The very best memorial you can create to a fur-child who has gone on is to make room for another one. You can’t replace them, but you can give ‘em siblings.
That is so beautiful!
if you are in Minnesota, his name is Augie Doggie, he lived with me for awhile. He didn’t like the company of my other cats so he moved on to a new house… with kids, he ADORED being in the company of the kids.
Our older orange kitty recruited an orange kitten from the yard onto our patio. Created a hole in the screen for him to come through!
He probably said to him>You can stay in my house
I love hearing stories like that. Just shows how smart and compassionate animals truly are. We have another kitty who likes to bring home strays! We can’t keep them all but they all show up for snacks. most of them have been left by people in the neighborhood who moved away and left them. I don’t know how they can do that, but there are a few of us that keep snacks out for them. Just saw two new kittens yesterday morning… i really hope they and their mama have a home.
Look’s like my kitty cat.
I had a cat that left us a few years back..He was my lil boy for almost 7 years, one day he went outside to do whatever it was he did outside and never came back…i miss him that cat looks like him but not quite him.
we had an orange kitten walk through our door last sept. (must’ve been about 3 months old)…and he’s never left! we call him george.
My profile picture is of my dearly departed Baby. I just lost her on Feb 3rd. She showed up at our door sick as anything, so a little medicine later she felt better and became my best friend of 11 1/2 years. I greatly miss her so much….. sigh*
your kitty looks like our CHARELY..that came to our house out of no were..6 an half years ago..sorry your loss..
That’s how our cat came to live at our home…I know how sad it is to lose a pet, my dog Bailey who I treated like my 3rd child passed away January 28, 2009..There is a great book by Sylvia Browne has written a book about “All Animas Go To Heaven.” It takes alot time to manage without your pet, but this book will help! It helped me!
Love your kitty cat!!!I love the way he came in through the cat flap true, and its so coincidental that the cat chooses us!!!!
I am also a Michael Jackson fan too!

I’m so sorry. I know how you feel. Our older orange kitty passed away 1 1/2 ago, at the age of almost 20 yrs. I’m still in pain, even though we have 2 new kitties…

I just had to put down my sweet cat Thomas on April 18,2012.He was a Tuxedo cat and so very smart. He had the bestest personality and daily habits he would do. Not a day goes by that something I do reminds me of him. I know he wants mommy to give another kitty a good home like I gave him. I want another male Tuxedo kitten. I know when the time is right I will find my Tuxxy (already have his name). The kitty will find me or I will find him.
my cat as well… she was hanging around outside our house for a couple of days.. we finally picke her up and adopteed her
Some loves are meant to be!
My profile picture is of my dearly departed Big Cheat. I adopted him with his twin sister when they were 9 weeks old. I found her first and she wouldn’t let anyone hold her but me. Her brother was the same way. It has been almost seven years since then and she comes running at a whistle.
I had a cat do this as well…we called him Nero…it stood for Never, Ever Really Ours.
Cats chose you! It’s a privilege to be loved by a cat!
Yes, it is a privilege to be loved by a cat, and they kind of adopt you as well as us adopting them… A pet sure adds substance to your life, more than just going to work, paying the bills and grocery shopping! We hadn’t had a cat for almost 4 years, and its such a joy to the family to have a beautiful being in our home again. I believe it is definitely a gift from God…This is her first Easter with us, and she is the best Easter gift ever!
so jelous! your family been adopted by a cute kitty!
Don’t be jealous, the Lord works in mysterious ways, so keep your eyes and ears open…We waited a long time before we had another pet! Our cat just chose us, walking with us outside, coming when we called, and then one day, she just waltzed in the house and adopted us!
Esto es bello.
How adorable hes s happy baby.
They have a way of getting into our hearts, don’t they?
