I think they’re sometimes kept as pets. A permit may be needed to keep one. They deserve to be wild in my opinion.

This is a fennec fox. They are wild foxes, not pets.
Years ago, Animal Planet had a show about a Fennec Fox, “Living in a Sea of Sand”. It was how this fox was on this island, and there was also a cat there! I fell in love with the little fox!
